Micro Soccer Rules

St. Andrews Community Club

Micro Soccer Rules (3 & 4 years)

1.The emphasis should be on fun and skill development.

2.The maximum number of players on the field is 5 on 5 (no goalkeepers).  This year most teams have 10 players.

3.Coaches should change lines every 2 ½ minutes.   Both teams should work together to change lines at the same time.

4.All players on a team should participate for an equal amount of playing time.

5.One coach from each team should be on the field to follow the play and help the players with rules.  A co-coach, team manager or parent can manage the players off the field waiting for their shift.  Players waiting for their shift should be sitting down together as a team.

6.The game starts with a kick off.

7.When the ball goes out of play, either on the side line or the end line, whistle or signal to stop the play.  To resume play, coaches can roll the ball back into play to keep the game moving.

8.We will not be using goalies.  Players are not allowed in the crease.

9.For safety, all players must wear soccer shin pads and be covered by soccer socks.  No caps or hats are to be worn by players.  Soccer cleats or runners must be worn (baseball cleats and metal cleats cannot be worn).
