Soccer Volunteer Positions

Coach

  • Coach team in all games and practices.
  • Coordinate and conduct team practices – ensure they have an organized plan of drills and other activities, which addresses the goals of the players and the team, in order to conduct a practice session.
  • Assist with the supervision of players on and off the field.
  • Determine a player’s position and line mates.
  • Ensure each player is wearing regulation protective equipment.
  • Follow the practices as outlined in the St. Andrews Fair Play Manual.
  • Explain the team rules regarding player conduct and safety.
  • Work closely with co-coach to delegate on and off field responsibilities.
  • Work closely with team manager to provide adequate information to players and parents.

Co-Coach

  • Assist the Coach in his coaching duties as stipulated in the coach’s position.
  • Able to assume the position and duties of the coach if the coach is unable to attend a game or practice.
  • Help coordinate and conduct team practices – ensure they have an organized plan of drills and other activities, which addresses the goals of the players and the team, in order to conduct a practice session.
  • Assist with the supervision of players on and off the field.
  • Ensure each player is wearing regulation protective equipment.
  • Responsible for player substitutions during games.
  • Responsible for team equipment during and after games and practices.
  • Follow the practices as outlined in the St. Andrews Fair Play Manual.
  • Help explain the team rules regarding player conduct and safety.
  • Work closely with Coach to determine on and off field responsibilities.
  • Work closely with team manager to provide adequate information to players and parents.

Team Manager

  • Provide each coach, parent, and/or player with a list, detailing the names and phone numbers of the coaches, players, and the parents.
  • Provide each parent/player with a schedule for league, exhibition, tournament, and playoff games and the times and locations for these activities.
  • Maintain player attendance records if requested by the Coach for all practices and games and ensure all parents provide notice to the team manager when not able to be in attendance.
  • Ensure officials are on site for the game or report missing officials to the convenor in a timely manner. Replace missing officials with a parent volunteer.
  • Ensure necessary medical information is collected and reported to coaches; outlining any current or possible medical conditions. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring this information is available at each team practice or game in case of a medical emergency.
  • Provide team administrative functions such as snack schedule, team photo schedules and wind-up information.
  • Assign duties to other parents as required.
  • Follow the practices as outlined in the St. Andrews Fair Play Manual.
  • Be familiar with and follow the practices as outlined in the St. Andrews Fair

  • Promote the Fair Play Rules to all team members and parents
  • Be the liaison between players, parents, and coaches.
  • Provide a Fair Play Policy Incident Form, when requested.
  • Attempt to resolve the matter either informally (no Fair Play Policy Incident Form submitted) or formally (Fair Play Policy Incident Form submitted) as requested by the person who believes the Fair Play Policy has been contravened.
  • Complete and submit the Fair Play Policy Incident Form to the Chairperson or Co-Chairperson of the Fair Play Committee, for record keeping purposes.
  • When incidents cannot be resolved, immediately notify the Chairperson or Co-Chairperson of the Fair Play Committee and forward the Fair Play Policy Incident Form to them.
